In 1960 Joelton voters went to the Legion Hall to
cast their ballots for President of the United
States. The precinct was then moved to the High
School (now the Middle School), where it has
remained ever since. As the results show, the
Joelton precinct is usually a reliable guide to
who will win the national election -- but not
always!

Dean notes
that The Tennessean no longer lists
election results by precinct, which is why the
"Joelton and the Presidency" table did
not include the 1992 and 1996 election returns.
He adds, "I think we can safely conclude one
thing--there was no Gore/Buchanan confusion on
the Joelton ballot!"
Historical
Note: The American Legion Hall, that served for
many years as the polling place for the Joelton
precinct, was located in a basement building on
the southeast corner of the intersection of Old
Clarksville Highway and Eatons Creek Road. It was
most widely known as a sometimes rowdy
establishment where persons in the community who
wished to partake of alcoholic
"spirits" could gather on Friday and
Saturday nights.
