Mr.
Trent Merritt Passes Away
Suddenly
Student
Body President in Joelton High's
Last Year
Mr. Trent Merritt, who served as
student government president
during the last year of Joelton
High School's existence, 1980,
passed away suddenly and
unexpectedly Thursday, May 17, in
his home. He was 43.
Mr. Merritt was a junior during
the last year at JHS. He went on
to graduate from Whites Creek
High School and he earned a
degree in engineering from
Vanderbilt University in 1986.
Mr. Merritt is remembered for the
passionate speech he presented to
the Metro School Board explaining
why Joelton should remain open as
a high school.
He is survived by his wife, Mary
Lee Merritt, and a daughter and
son, Jenni Lee and Nicklaus
Merritt.
Visitation will be Sunday, May
20, from noon till 5:00 p.m. with
the funeral service Monday, May
21, at 11:00 a.m. at Hickory
Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Pike,
Nashville, 615.331.1952 (south of
Old Hickory Boulevard).
Joelton.com wishes to express
