Joelton Hills Memory Gardens
Unveils Plans for Mausoleum

Harpeth Family Funeral Services has announced plans to construct the Last Supper Chapel Mausoleum at their Joelton Hills Memory Gardens location at 6216 Clarksville Pike.

"Since purchasing the cemetery in 2001, it has been our goal to make Joelton Hills the preferred cemetery in the area," said Kathy Roberts, director. "In addition to traditional ground burial, we've added a more private area of Family Hedged Garden Estates and completed the first phase of our Lawn Crypt garden."

"The addition of the Chapel Mausoleum in Joelton is another way for us to offer the community the ability to make decisions based on what's right for them and the peace of mind in knowing that they've done so," Roberts added. "I'm excited about the new addition and believe that it will only add to the beauty of our tranquil little cemetery here in Joelton."

Metro Parks to Help Fund New Fence at Joelton Park

Metro Department of Parks and Recreation has agreed to assist with funding for a new fence at Joelton Park on Old Clarksville Highway.

Ronnie Webb, president of the Joelton Community Club, Joelton Civitan Club member Charlie Harvison, and First District Councilwoman Brenda Gilmore met with Jim Fyke, director of Parks and Recreation, to request funding assistance for the project. Fyke agreed to provide some funding, which, according to Councilwoman Gilmore, means the fence should be up soon.

"I am pleased we were able to do this for the young people in the Joelton community," she said.

In addition to the new fence, Councilwoman Gilmore is allocating a small amount of First District infrastructure money to help with the sound system at the park.

Traffic Light Approved for Rawlings Road at Clarksville Highway

After several requests, the Metro Board of Traffic and Parking has agreed to put a traffic light at the intersection of Rawlings Road and Clarksville Highway.

In announcing the decision, First District Councilwoman Brenda Gilmore recognized several area residents who were instrumental in the process. "A big thank you goes out to Joe West and his wife Joy, Cheryl Nunnely, Cindy Blackwell, Peggy Garrett, and Mr. Daughtrey for going with me and speaking before the board," Councilwoman Gilmore said.

A traffic light is expected to tremendously improve safety in the area as records show that approximately 60 accidents have occurred at this intersection in the past 20 months.
